Unable to Rename Local Users Profile Folder

Question

Tuesday, April 2, 2019 7:08 AM

Hi Everyone,

Had a user whom is logging into a machine and seems to only be able to get in using a temporary profile.

I've tried to rename the local profile which gives the error "Solution to cannot rename file because the folder or a file in it is open in another program"

Does anyone have any ideas how to get around this?

I've tried the following

- Changing folder view

- Restarting Explorer

- Preventing Windows from using thumbnails

- Rebooted machine

Any help would be appreciated to this extremely frustrating issue.

Certainly appears as though it's been a known issue for years having done a search for it

3. Use registry tweak

4. Change your view

5. Change Windows Defender settings

6. Delete autorun.inf files
