WAN Miniport (pptp) missing

Question

Tuesday, April 2, 2019 6:24 PM

I upgraded a perfectly running Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 pro. Everything looked fine until I tried to VPN connect back to the office. Screen was stuck at "Connecting to Office". Started by trying to open properties on the adapter ad get a "An unexpected error has occurred". Tried setting up a new connection and when I look at the adapter it displays "Unavailable-device missing"

Checked Device manager and it looks like the WAN Miniport (PPTP) isn't associated with the network adapters. I Can't figure out how to get it installed. Looking for help

Try to update WAN Miniport driver manually.

Open Device Manager:

#Right click on WAN Miniport, and select Update driver.
#Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Hi,

I recommend you follow the below steps to update the driver:

  • Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
  • Expand a category (like Monitors or Network Adapters) to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
