Hello everyone I am having an issue which is EventID 404 Critical error Task Scheduler in my Local server and All server sections. This is my first time configuring a server and I am doing it in my homelab. I am running ESXi hyper-visor and I am virtualizing a windows server 2016. I have checked all of my services in MMC and all the services with issues or that were related to task scheduler are all started automatically with no delay. I was having issues with the services as they were delay starting which was giving me errors. Even after checking all the services and making sure they are all running I am still getting the task scheduler error. I am sure that it is something stupid that I am missing. Please let me know any additional information needed. Thanks!

This one might help.

I'd suggest testing with an RTM version of windows. If you test with a beta or preview version of windows it may be difficult for you (or anyone) to know if it is a configuration error on your part or simply a bug in the OS code that has not been worked out. You can get 2012 R2 evaluation here.

In addition to what Dave has said as I agree with that for a first home lab the known 2012R2 would be better.
How long has this server been setup? I got a Task Scheduler 404 error when setting up the TP5 servers, that is within one hour of setting the server up (comparing the event time to the install date). It has not done it again. After 24 hours Server Manager does not display it anymore.
As I have had not done any setup of the server at that point, and having setup 2012R2, TP3, TP4 servers etc ok I ignored it :) and then forgot about it. Seen it on all my TP5 servers from memory (as a one off) not worried about it on any of them, just a TP5 thing to me.
