"Download email for the past" grayed out Outlook 2016

Hi,

 "Download email for the past" is grayed out in Outlook 2016

Created the below registry value and restarted the users laptop

Registry Hive Registry Path: Value Name Value Type Value
HKEY_CURRENT_USER software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\outlook\cached mode syncwindowsettingdays REG_DWORD 0

Opened the outlook and still  "Download email for the past" is grayed out.

Please help.

Hi Boopathi,

Is this a problem that has only recently occurred? If so, what specific operations did you do before this problem occurred?

Does this issue only happen to this specific email account? It is suggested to try add other exchange accounts to your Outlook and see if the issue could be reproduced.

According to my tests, I found that if you add the registry value like you mentioned above, the "Download email for the past" option will be automaticcally grayed out, so it is suggested to open your Registry Editor, navigate to software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\outlook and right click to delete the "cached mode" folder.

(Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before making changes, back up the registry to restore it in case something goes wrong.)

In order to conduct further researches on your issue, please try the following suggestions:

  1. Corrupted profile can lead this issue, so please try creating and using a new Outlook profile via Control Panel > Mail > Show profile and see if there is any difference.
  2. There could be some add-ins in your Outlook client that cause this issue, so it is suggested to start your Outlook in safe mode (Press Win + R, type “outlook /safe”, press Enter.) and see if the issue continues.
