Question
Monday, June 5, 2017 11:02 PM
Isn't Excel15.xlb supposed to provide more capabilities & features than personal.xlsb?
And is personal.xlsb now showing up because I just moved to another PC on a different campus (same file servers for the campuses), and because somehow I botched up the transfer of the Excel15.xlb file?
Thanks again!

Hi John S,
Excel15.xlb: .xlb is a setting file format created by Microsoft Excel. XLB files contain custom settings for the toolbars (or command bars). These settings can be edited or customized by selecting toolbar from the view options.
Personal.xlsb: Personal Macro Workbook is a secret place where you can save frequently used macros, automation snippets and code modules so that you can call them from any file and save tons of time.
So you need to check if someone stored any personal macros in the new PC before. The personal.xlsb is an hidden sheet, you can unhide the sheet and check if you need it. You can delete the personal.xlsb directly from:
C:\Users\username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
Hope it's helpful.

Personal.xlsb is your personal macro workbook. It is created the first time you record a macro and specify that it is to be saved to your personal macro workbook.
Excel15.xlb stores some Excel settings, in particular toolbar customizations, so it serves a completely different purpose.

Thank you, Emi Zhang,
I apologize for taking so long to respond. I left the firm shortly after I posted my problem and never thought to finish responding to you. I did follow your instructions and was successful except for a couple of steps where I had made mistakes.
