Need to force log off on idle machines

Question

Wednesday, July 3, 2019 9:12 PM

I need to force Windows 10 client machines to auto logoff (not reboot) after "X" amount of inactivity time from GPO to an OU.

Is this a doable thing since most of what I've found pertains to Windows 7 and servers?

You can enable this using this Group Policy

Kindly go through the following article:

Hi,

If the win10 clients you mentioned are in RDS environment, you may configure the properties of collection to log off the idle sessions.

For RDS 2012 and later OS version, please adjust below configuration based on your requirement:

Server Manager – Remote Desktop Services - Collections - <your collection name> - PROPERTIES - Tasks - Edit Properties - Session.

Or configure the settings of GPO

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits

However, if you are referring to the win10 computers locally not remotely, the recommended solution is to create task scheduler.
