VS 2019 Prompt for checkout

Question

Friday, May 17, 2019 8:26 AM

I've recently upgraded to VS2019 and have set source control to "Prompt for check out", however VS never prompt and always automatically checks out source code, solutions files etc. How do I get it to prompt before checking out file? Or is this a known bug? I've tried searching but only get results relating to older version of visual studio.

Hi JTScree,

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

Please open VS -> Tools -> Options -> Select Source Control under options -> Select Environment under Source Control. Now under Checked-in Items -> Editing -> Select Do noting

Sincerely.

May

I've just tried selecting Do Nothing and it makes no difference (files are checked out automatically), though even if that worked it would still mean that VS2019 is not doing what it is told. If I select Prompt them it should Prompt.

Hi James,

Thanks for your update.

What's your VS 2019 version, please run the VS installer as administrator and repair it. If there have new updates, upgrade to the latest vs 2019 version and check it again.

Best regards,

Sara
