MKlink not working

Question

Monday, November 11, 2019 4:20 PM

guys - this command isn't working for me. Can someone help? It shows it was created but there is no folder1 in c drive. I need this link to be permanent across reboots since it'll make it easy for me to just open up \folder1\ and save all my files there and they will automatically go onto onedrive

mklink /D \folder1 \homefolder\OneDrive\Work
symbolic link created for \folder1 <<===>> \homefolder\OneDrive\Work

Worked for me. Did you run it from an elevated admin command prompt? Search your C: drive for folder1 and see if it got created in another directory.

C:\>dir fold*
Volume in drive C is OS
 Volume Serial Number is 9EE0-DE09

 Directory of C:\

11/11/2019 04:45 PM <SYMLINKD> folder1 [C:\Users\Dave\OneDrive\Public]
               0 File(s) 0 bytes
               1 Dir(s) 68,735,258,624 bytes free

Hi,

Firstly, check whether you have deleted the “Backup” folder in default location.

Besides, just check whether the syntax is wrong. More details you could refer to the following link:

mklink error: Cannot create a file when that file already exists

Note: This is a third-party link and we do not have any guarantees on this website. This is just for your convenience. And Microsoft does not make any guarantees about the content.

Hope can help you. Have a nice day!

Kiki Shi
