SharePoint 2010
Office 2010
We have an Excel file saved in SharePoint library, which has version history set
I’ve got 2 users who open the same Excel file from Excel- Recent Docs.
User A
User B
The problem is that when User A saves the Excel doc, and then User B opens the same file from their Excel, an older version is displayed.
Any ideas?

Not sure what else it could be. I guess one thing that could have happened maybe the one user had a checked out document in the past, it got overrode and when they click the link it's opening the cached version in the SharePoint Drafts folder? Does it open the old version on all users / computers?

Go into the libraries advanced settings and make sure content approval isn't turned on. If it is, then until it's approved the document will not show for other users unless you changed the settings to allow them to see the drafts set to everyone etc.

Hi Peter,
This issue can be because of-
1)the user's MS Office is having a cached version of the file.
2) due to check out of this file by the first user.
Answer -1
Please ask user to go to file> inside MS Excel and check to see whether the file is opened in "Offline mode" or server mode".
If its offline mode, then it will be linked there. Click on the link , and it routes to Office Upload Center , where it will display cached version of files. Find the file, what you are trying to open. Just delete that file(don't forget to take a back up) and re-open the file from the SharePoint site. The issue is fixed...
Answer -2
If the file is checked out, then while opening of the file from the SharePoint site, it will display that the original file in checked out.
Please ask the second user to discard the checkout.
Hope' s this helped.
