Question

Web search didn’t really answer this question. So I finally decided to just talk with a Microsoft Support agent.
I spoke with a Microsoft Support agent yesterday and was told that for the Microsoft Edge Browser, if I want to disable MIME sniffing, I need to reset my browser (this removes everything including favorites and bookmarks). I was also told that if I try to disable MIME sniffing on the Microsoft Edge browser, without resetting it, there is a possibility that it might corrupt it.
I spoke with a Microsoft Support agent again today and was told that as far as he knows, the MIME sniffing can't be disabled by an option, and that it may need an advance program to disable and tweak the server of it. I was told that for further details to post on this forum.
1) So I reset the Edge Browser and that essentially disables MIME sniffing?
If it’s not a setting the user can turn off/on via a check box would a user ever know if it is turned back on?
What type of action could turn it on?
Could you please tell me what are the exact steps needed to disable MIME sniffing and also to reset the Edge Browser?
Thank you.

did you try the group policies? I expect them to work the same for Edge as they to for Internet Explorer.
Enable MIME Sniffing
(the location seems to be slightly different in my version of Windows 10?!)

The registry setting was updated, the browser was reset, but no luck.
The registry path/key didn’t exact so we created the zones\3 path and added the 2100 dword value as below. Unfortunately the same issue was hit.
This is when running windows 10 in our environment.

According to the my research, this option is not available for Microsoft Edge.

This problem seems to occur only if both of these conditions are met: 1) we are using the Microsoft Edge Browser, and 2) our web server is IIS. Normally, we can download the XML data file. If we use the Edge browser and IIS as our web server, it does not allow us to download to save/open the file onto the client machine; what happens instead, the XML data content is displayed on the Edge browser. Is there a way we can modify the information in the Launch Header tag of this XML file, so that we can download, whenever we are using Edge and IIS? Thanks.
