Question

Hello,
I'm working with an on premises Exchange Server 2016 and created RBAC roles for specific users under specific OUs. Now I found out that by default shared mailboxes are added to Users container.
As I'm looking to separate mailbox administration based on OU, is it safe to move the Shared Mailboxes AD objects (that are disabled) to a different OU, so the RBAC applies to them also?
Thank you for the help.
Regards,
Fábio

Hi
It shouldn't be a problem. I have customers with mailboxes located in many other folders and the users OU is kept for the built-in accounts and groups.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Agree with Edward, we could not change the OU in Exchange management tools once the recipient object has been created. Supported way is to change it from ADUC.
A drag & drop would be fine.
