Question

We are preparing for a firm-wide PC refresh. We just purchase several brand new Dell OptiPlex 7020 Desktop computers and I'm trying to put our image on these systems.
I downloaded the driver CAB file for this model computer, created\imported the drivers into SCCM.
Unfortunately, when I PXE boot from the new PC, it appears to load the WIM file, but the Task Sequence Wizard does not display. It just displays the System Center Configuration Manager white screen. The task sequence wizard never appears and then the PC eventually reboots on its own.
Any advice would be most appreciated..
Myron

Okay thanks, I will look into that... I just discovered that since I added the new drivers for the Dell 7020 to the task sequence, now the task sequence wizard is failing to run when I PXE boot and try to re-image our Dell OptiPlex 760 machines. The Dell 760 computers are our old systems and currently used by all of our users today. This image has been solid for the last year. Now it fails. Any idea why this would stop working?

Most common error is that you haven't distributed the driver package to DPs.

It sounds a lot like you need to add some NIC drivers to the boot image. To be sure enable F8 in the boot image and check the ip configuration.

Per your suggestion Peter, I hit F8 once I booted into WINPE and there is no IP address shown.

That means you need to add NIC drivers to the boot image for that specific desktop model. Do keep in mind that you should take the right version of the NIC drivers that match with the version of boot image.

Tim - Thanks for the info.. I too thought that might be the issue, so last week, I redeployed the driver package to all of our DPs and it didn't make a difference.
Today, I'm going to try redeploying the Task Sequence to all DPs. Not sure if this is going to help..
