The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization

Question

Thursday, September 12, 2019 9:59 AM

When our DHCP serer remain OFF for 2 days (60+ hours), DHCP services stops.  We have to restart it manually on each Monday.

Event ID:1059

The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization.

Event ID:1046

The DHCP/BINL service on the local machine, belonging to the Windows Administrative domain abc.domain, has determined that it is not authorized to start.  It has stopped servicing clients.  The following are some possible reasons for this:
This machine is part of a directory service enterprise and is not authorized in the same domain.  (See help on the DHCP Service Management Tool for additional information).

This machine cannot reach its directory service enterprise and it has encountered another DHCP service on the network belonging to a directory service enterprise on which the local machine is not authorized.

    Some unexpected network error occurred.

Please tell me how to fix aforementioned problem.

Hi,

Thanks for your posting in this forum.

Based on my experience, I will give you following recommendations. Hope it helps to you:

  1. Please authorize the DHCP server.
  2. According to the description of event ID 1059, the cause is that the DHCP server does not find a valid directory services-enabled domain controller.

Please check the DNS address in the NIC’s properties on this machine. It is important that only internal DNS servers hosting the AD zone are the only DNS servers used.

3.Determine if there is a network connectivity problem by using the ping server_FQDN and ping IP_address.
