Hi,
When trying to run the "Windows Search" service I recieve the error:
Windows could not start the windows search service on local computer error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
I've downloaded the reg fix here, but the issue remains.
Help appreciated.

Hi Kapil,
I had rebooted, and Windows Search was not active, but I was able to restart Windows Search manually this time.
Bit concerned it wasn't started even though it is set to Automatic.
Regards,
Steve.

Hello,
Please check Windows Service and set it to Automatic startup type in Services (run services.msc command to get this). Also run Search and Indexing troubleshooter:

Hope this helps, Good luck :)

Hi,
Thanks Kapil.
Windows Search is set to automatic.
Troubleshooter finds the service is not started, but cannot start it, even when run as an administrator.

Okay, please check the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD at this registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
Try setting its value to 6000 and make sure you select Decimal base. Let us know if this helps.

Hi SRD75,
When did the issue start to occur? Have you made any modifications to the machine before?
Please take the following steps to have a troubleshoot.
1.Open an administrator command line and run "sfc /scannow" or "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" to check the health of system files.
2.Try to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot whether there is a third party service conflict.
