Yet another annoying thing in Windows 10 - how do you access MMC from the Start Menu/Search Box. In Windows 7 and Vista, you could just type MMC and it would come up. In Windows 8/8.1, you had to go to All Apps, then type MMC and it would come up. In Windows 10 if you type MMC in the search box, it brings up Admin Snap-ins, but not mmc. If you go to All Apps, you can't type to search for an app like you could in Windows 8/8.1 and MMC is not listed. I have to open a command prompt and run mmc from there, or type run, and open a run dialog to run mmc. Please tell me we're not regressing to Windows XP where you have to go to start->run. Am I going to have to manually create shortcuts for this? Very annoying.

It should come up if you type mmc.exe
I have noticed a lot of items require me to include .msc or .exe for them to show up in the list in Windows 10. It is a bit annoying.

When you run the mmc console in the first time, you could save the console by giving the name MMC.
After that, you have to only click the start menu and type mmc.
But yes, you have to create a shortcut.
You can also right-click on the start menu and select run and type mmc and press Enter.

if I type mmc or mmc.exe into the "searth the web and windows" i get the mmc console. If i hit win+r I get a run box and can type in mmc enter and get the console. if i right click the start button and click run or search I can type in mmc and get the console. if you do like T.Kujala and save your mmc the first time you use it you can then use the search to pull up the one you want. have you turned off anything that may be causing the search to skip parts of your machine?

Thank you, it does indeed show up if I add .exe. I had noticed the same things for some of the snap-ins with the .msc extension, but didn't even think about it for mmc. This is the answer I was looking for, not creating a shortcut or using run as I originally indicated.
