Question

Hi,
2 days back we migrated our SP farm to claims based authentication and the impact i got is,
I have one site collection where i had configured four Designer workflows (1 list workflow and 3 reusable workflows) and now after claims migration when i try to republish any of the workflows it throws error.
Error:
Errors were found while compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.
Could not publish the workflow because the workflow configuration file contains errors.
Any idea how can i resolve this issue without recreating the workflows. Thanks

Hi Prashant,
You can check the following articles to try to modify web.config file to add excuteTimeout attribute and try to reactivate the workflow features.

Hi,
Thanks for replying the post.
I went through these articles but the problem is I cannot change web.config because the environment is Office 365 hosted. And these articles are not talking about the claims migration problem.
Thanks.

Where exactly is this accomplished...in sharepoint or in designer..Can you tell me where to find it? I'm pretty new to this process so please be as descriptive as possible. Thanks!

i had the same error trying to publish a new workflow to O365 from SharePoint Designer. I read this article, then I went into Site Settings > Site Collection Features on the actual SharePoint site, and I deactivated Workflows, then reactivated them, and now it works. I have no idea how I would have ever known to do that without finding this post online. Thanks, Prashant!
boot up. log on. go anywhere. learn everything.

O365 resolution for me was to remove the workflow for the list (List Settings). Navigate to the list workflow and click the Remove, Block or Restore a Workflow hyperlink. HINT: This uses the following page _layouts/15/RemWrkfl.aspx.
Click the Remove checkbox for the offending workflow and republish (from SDP). I still got the same error at this point so closed SPD and reopened it, Published the workflow and no error appeared.
I hope this helps others as we don't have access to web.config on O365.

I don't know if this thread is still being monitored, but I tried the above solution... unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the end... because after deactivating, I tried activating the workflows again AND I get an error saying: Something went wrong. Any ideas? I hope this doesn't affect the existing and working workflows on our site??

Can you give us the names of the workflow features you had to publish and re-publish again, please.
