Question

I have my computer set to NOT automatically download & install updates, because sometimes I don't want an update to be installed. However when there're multiple updates waiting, but I don't wan all of them - e.g. a feature update - I can't find any way to download and install them selectively.
Am I missing something or is there no way to select which updates that I want to install?

hi,
There's not an option to select which updates you want to install in Windows 10, but you can use the method in the tutorial below to hide the updates you do not want to install.

I have used wushowhide.diagcab and it does work but they do not go away immediately. Have you tried rebooting or waiting until the next time it decides to look for updates?

Hi Mohamed, and thank you for your reply.
I followed your link and the procedure to hide updates, but unfortunately it didn't work. When the waiting updates were displayed, I checked the **"**Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803" to be hidden. It went through it's machinations and told me that the update was hidden. However, when I then opened the Windows Update settings, it's still there in all its unglory. I re-opened the windows updates settings page several times but that feature update is still there.
I don't want to install that feature update because I let it install on another computer, after which that computer would not start and I had to recover the computer from a two week old backup.
I'm finding that, one-by-one these feature updates are getting worse and worse for older computers. I think that Micro$oft needs to take that in to consideration with these feature updates and allow users to skip things that may not work on their computers.

Hi nusar1946, and thank you for your post.
Actually I did reboot and the update was still there indicating "Awaiting Installation", along with several other updates that I wanted installed. So I bit my lip and accepted the installation and, much to my surprise, the feature update that I had hidden DID NOT INSTALL. Apparently the wushowhide.diagcab does work, but just doesn't remove the hidden item from the list.
Anyway, thanks to both of you and all's well that ends well.
