Question

My Windows 10 laptop intermittently crashes in many different ways. For example, sometimes, the right click does not work on the desktop screen, and when I run the File Explorer, "system call failed" error pops up.I
I tried running sfc /scannow, and got the message that "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log "
I also tried sfc /scannow in the safe mode, but got the same message. Here is the link to the log file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkdYTmntOmYziRB6ZoEbdPwT-DOG
So, what can try next time?

When sfc /scannnow finds integrity violations you can run another command as long as you are connected to the internet to potentially fix the Windows corruption:
1) open administrative command prompt
2) enter the following command: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
If that corrects the integrity violation then great!
If that does not correct the integrity violation then you can potentially supply the files that were unavailable to the DISM files.
Worst case scenario is to use windows troubleshooting where you can reset and save files. That sometimes can be the quickest method instead of all the troubleshooting steps.
If the DISM command fails and you prefer troubleshooting you can view each the CBS log and the DISM log. For each log you can look for text with corrupt, corruption, failure and then better appreciate the areas of the operating system that are problematic.

Hi ,
If above method doesn’t work, we could try to perform an in-place upgrade repair to refresh the machine. Refreshing the machine won`t affect the personal files. It allows you to keep all your files, settings and apps. No product key is required. Activation is automatic. Boot from a Windows 10 ISO, choose "Upgrade" install.
Best regards

However you cannot keep your files and programs with a Windows re-installation from a booted DVD. The "Upgrade" must done from a DVD or mounted ISO with Windows 10 running.
I have only tried this using the same Windows 10 build or later, example 17134 vs 16299.
The first reply mentioned Troubleshooting, that is a Windows Boot Menu option if the menu appears. It probably does not with only one Windows version installed. Get to it via any Windows DVD booted then Repair Windows option, or within Windows:
Settings: Recovery = RESET Windows or get to the above menu.
