Hi All,

I have noticed that under the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS" location .usage files are getting created and with each .log file 4 to 5 .usage files are getting created. The size of one .log file and five .usage files are 40MB.

Can some one please suggest me that how can i disable the .usage file creation and reducing the .log file size.

Please its urgent.

Hello

You can delete or move them ..And also you can specify a different location for logs Via Central Admin .

To Configure the log follow the below steps ..

1) Open CA > Monitoring >Reporting > Diagnostic Logging

  1. Scroll down > Under Trace Log section >

Path : To specify or change SharePoint log location ..
Number of Days to store log file : In this section you can specify the maximum days for logs .
Restrict Trace Log disk space Usage : here you can specify the size for log folder It will automatically delete older logs if size is exceeded.

It is normal for those file to exist, however they should also be cleaned up by a regular process.

This blog is a good guide to the process and what you can do with it: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sharepoint_quick_reads/archive/2012/02/20/sharepoint-2010-usage-and-health-service.aspx

You can disable the logging, or set it to a much smaller size in Central Admin.
