Why the need to disable this?
Have a look at the settings under; Settings > Update & security > Windows Defender. Cloud based and automatic submissions can be disabled.

Hi ,
Usually, we do not suggest people to disable Windows Defender feature, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection will Help Detect, Investigate and Respond to Attacks.
But if you still want to disable it, we could refer to Mr Happy'suggestion to have a try.
Best regards

I really need a step by step breakdown of how to do this. My Settings>Update & Security>Windows Defender screen is not giving me anything of the sort, and ATP is ruining my online experience (which is already rubbish due to poor internet coverage). I haven't even got Defender activated, and don't use Office 365, so how has this got on my system - I want it gone asap... I am a more trustworthy guide to what email links are safe than any very annoying, absolutely horrible, unwelcome, unwanted piece of MS Windows update that has effectively made everything take 2-3 times as long as usual, and completely ruined my entire browsing experience. Sort this out and allow people to switch it off asap -- I am more inclined to trust EVERY link I come across and disable everything I possibly can to try and get this thing out of my PC... Grrrr!
Oh, and this website wouldn't allow me to post a screen grab of my settings page because I haven;t been verified or trusted... WTF?

Will this Windows Defender setting change also turn off Safelinks redirection such as the following (From a link in Outlook Email to browser)?
