Question

  • Hi ,

Some other person who worked before me configured the services and they are running in central administration.

And we are having one web application and site collection aswell(intranet site). Both are running well.

Now the Requirements are

1. new internet site -which is accessible from anywhere - for this when they are inside the organisation need to access using windows credentials and when they are accessing the same site may be at home or in travel need to ask for credentials. Credentials are stored in AD(Exchange). - for this can i use claims based authentication

2. I created a new web application using this site

http://en.hugon.ws/articles/sharepoint-2010/creating-your-first-sharepoint-2010-site/ With claims based authentication and port number as 443 as i want (https). At the end i got this error message.

The configuration section 'configuration' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration.

Can anybody help me please.

And if i run Farm configuration wizard  to fix some services, do i loose any saved settings and web applications and websites .

Thank you

Hi,

>form using sharepoint 2013

Actually this is SP 2010 forum so you are in wrong forum. Wait until this move to 2013 forum by moderator..

I have not started work on 2013 yet so could not able to help you much but i have found good technet article to extend web application in SP 2013.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg276325%28v=office.15%29.aspx

Hope it could help

Hi,

>when they are inside the organisation need to access using windows credentials and when they are accessing

First you need to extend your existing web application so it can be accessible from outside. Now original one for within in network and extended for outside the network. You need to configure claim for extended application.

>The configuration section 'configuration' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration

This error says you have modified or missed the declaration in your new web application web.config file. My first though is have you done any modification in web.config file? if yes then please check you modification and make sure start and end tags are proper and parameter declaration is proper in config file.

Hope it could help
