Hi barrejf,
What is your current situation?
In addition to Event ID 7023 and Event 642, are there any other erros logged?
By the way, which symptom have you take look at the Event Viewer?
Event ID 7023 is mostly related with the special service, please open services.msc and take a check at the service mentioned, along with its Dependencies, under service properties.

For Event 642, take a try to clear the store cache:
a) Press Windows logo key + R
b) Type “wsreset.exe” on run windows and press enter.
Also take a look at the article below:

I regularly receive the following Warnings in the Windows Application log:

I'd appreciate any assistance you can offer. I am receiving similar errors for other databases.

What is the underlying issue that prompted you to look in event viewer?

I wanted to add that I'm having the same problem. I've gone through and deleted all of the Search files and let the service re-create them, but I'm getting that same error. There will be an entry in Event Viewer for this nearly every time I launch an app.
The reason I started checking Event Viewer is that my Store cannot successfully search for updates. When I click on "Check for Updates" it may spin for a long time or stop almost immediately, but never find any updated apps. If I happen to know an app was updated and I browse to that app in the store, it will then show an Update button and appear in my Updates list. I don't know if these problems are related.

Hi,
I have a similar problem with the Connected Device Platform Service. Maybe my experience helps you. I definitely found a solution for my problem! Here it is:
Problem Description
- Event Viewer reports Event ID 7023:
The Connected Devices Platform Service service terminated with the following error:
Unspecified error - Service "Connected Device Platform Service" cannot be started manually. Error message shown:
Windows could not start Connected Device Platform Service service on Local Computer. Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error - System (more specifically explorer.exe) hangs for about 1-2 minutes after Windows 10 was booted.
- Wireless Display Connection (WiDi) fails to connect.
Solution
In Settings -> Privacy -> General, option "Let apps on my other devices open apps and continue experiences on this device" is turned OFF. Turn this ON (which is the default setting) and all the problems listed above are gone!
Please mark this posting as solution if I was able to help you. Thanks.
With best regards,
