Hi,

SO this one node cluster. If you loged on to the local node. Is the cluster NetBIOS name on line and or the IP online.

If these are not on line try to put them in online modes if this fails see what the error is and  tell us the error. If it is a DNS error fail to get the ip on line check your dns entry.

and check if your local firewall is the problem.

HI,

Is there a DNS entry for the cluster computer object ? and exist the object in the Active directory ? and make sure Admins have access to this object.

Turn off your Firewall on both nodes , are you a local admin ?

Is your cluster a production cluster or just a test , If it is just a test , destroy your cluster and start over, It will save troubleshoot time and as now little hints are given.

Did you use to open remote the console If so did it work ?

When you build the cluster did you run the cluster validation ? if so where there any errors in the log ?  Navigate to C:\Windows\Cluster\Reports directory and open the Validation Report .MHT file look for warning / failed.

Create a cluster.log file and post results

Get-ClusterLog –Node <CreateClusterNode>

Let me know the results.

Can any one help me on this. I have configured a one node cluster in windows 2008 r2 and I was able to manage it. but when I try to access the cluster now it gives the below error,

error code 0x800706ba the rpc server is unavailable while accessing the cluster.

I have used task manager to end the cluster administrator console and I guess I started receiving this error after killing the manager console through task manager.

Can you please clarify me one this thing,

  • how did you can configure one node (Node1) cluster.?
  • do we have a DNS entry for Node2  is in AD. is it there?
  • Enable fail-over cluster feature on both nodes. Then login in Node1 and try to open fail-over cluster admin console then add Node2 as secondary node to the cluster.

  • Reboot Node1 and access cluster admin console and check once whether we get same error or not? Also suggest you check cluster logs and error/warning events in system event viewer and Post the same here, if problem persists.

I have restarted the node and still not able to open the cluster administrator console to manage the cluster and configure. I am not sure if it is got corrupted when I killed it using task manager.

Error : error code 0x800706ba the rpc server is unavailable while accessing the cluster.

One more thing I am unable to ping the cluster IP after killing the process. It gives destination host unreacheble error. Should I remove the cluster computer account and recreate it from the starting. Is that will be the only solution?

If your cluster is new and just for test then you can destroy your cluster and start again.

But if it is a production cluster then you need to find the problem.

Is the cluster service started ? Are you a local admin on this node ?

And if you start the failover cluster console on a other server/desktop <> you can use the RSAT tools.

If you could ping the cluster node before you killed the task that means the cluster is UP and running. the problem you have is the MMC .

SO try to start the console from a different machine use the RSAT tools.

Can you tell me what and all need to check when you are not able to launch the cluster administration console? cluster service is running on both the noded and I can ping the each nodes. I tried pinging cluster computer object ip which is destination unreacheble.

Thank You,

It has DNS entry for the cluster object and it is exist in AD and we have permission to it.

Firewall is turned off and have local admin access on both the nodes.

These are two new servers which we will require for production but not yet in use.

I haven't tried with remote tool.

Validation was success and there was no error reported.

I willl try to get you the cluster.log else as you suggested instead of troubleshooting will reconfigure it and see.

Thank You,

What network cards do you use?

If broadcom, please disable Ethernet@wirespeed.

Is cluster service started? If so, can you list out the cluster the cluster resources to see if any are offline or failed? You can do this with a 'cluster res' command or 'Get-ClusterResource' in Powershell
