Question

In the 'mother database' I have a couple of macro's running with files in linked access databases. This ran well till about a week ago, probably till I have got an automatic update of Windows/MS Office. Now, halfway the program I get the message 'The query cannot be completed etc.'
Then I close the database and it shows that the size is no more than 300 Mbyte and all other related databases have no more than 1 Gbyte. And space enough on the hard disk. So, what happend to my installation that Access cannot rum completely?
I installed the same database constellation and program on a computer with an older version of Access and than it ran without any problem (but, it took about six hours, which is not practical).

Hi,
Based on my research, this issue could be caused due to following reasons:
1. Access database has its max size (2GB). While running a query it often needs temporary storage. It means that the normal size plus the temp size hits the 2GB file size limit of Access.
2. Caused by the query, any non-trivial query or operation can use a larger amount of temporary space.
3. Caused by the database, the column name in database is not the same of the output in the transformation.
You may consider to compact the database or split the database. For your convenience:
If I've misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.
