Question

Hi, so I am having an issue with how a certain Powerpoint looks on my computer when it is sent by a colleague. In our line of work, we often send each other versions of a Powerpoint presentation, make edits on our end, and then send it back. Up til recently, we have not had any issues. But now, whenever my colleague sends me a version of this specific powerpoint, it looks modified when I open it. We both have the same font installed on our laptops and so that is not the issue. Basically, the same font in the same size looks differently sized, so it does not fit neatly into text boxes. Further, when my colleague pastes in a graph from Excel, the axis's hidden numbers suddenly become visible on my end.
This is really impeding on my work productivity and I cannot figure out why this may be happening. We are using Microsoft 365, if that helps. I appreciate any feedback on this issue, thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
Could you tell me more details about the issue to help me better analyze it for you?
Which type(format) is the presentation file? For example, .ppt or .pptx.
What font family does the issue occur with? If you switch it to other fonts, will the text looks the same?
Please go to File > Options > Save, check if the option "Embed fonts in the file" is enabled.
How did you paste a graph from Excel into PowerPoint? Which paste option were you using? Does the issue occur with all PowerPoint files? Generally, you can try to use inserting Object to insert an Excel Chart into your presentation.
Considering the issue only occur with the specific version of PowerPoint presentation, you can create new blank presentation and reuse the slides from the problematic PowerPoint file. For more steps, read Reuse (import) slides from another presentation.
You can also save the file as a different format of file to have a check.
If you have any updates, feel free to post back to let us know. I would be glad to follow up to help you.
Best Regards,
Herb

Hi Herb,
It is a .pptx file. The font itself is Gidole -- not sure what family that falls under, but it is something I had to install as it was not pre-installed on my Powerpoint.
I see that the 'embed fonts in file' is not checked, should it be?
Also the excel graphs were just regularly copy and pasted onto the slide.
A bit of context as to why this occurred:
- colleague and I have had no issues exchanging different versions of the Powerpoint
- we sent a draft to a client to review, and client made direct changes to the Powerpoint and sent it back
- colleague and I used that version from the client as the new master copy
I can pinpoint when the issues started occurring, and that is when we began to use the client's copy as the new master version. I am pretty sure something might have happened in that transition, as there was no problem before we sent anything to the client.
