Hi,
When this issue happens, can you copy and paste from one email message to another within Outlook?
As this issue happens intermittently, may I know whether you have found any pattern on this? How long does it last once happening? Any operation to get rid of this temporarily, such as a restart?
Are other Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) affected by this issue? If only Outlook is affected, we may try starting Outlook in safe mode to see whether it was caused by any third-party add-in. To do this, exit Outlook first, press Win+R to open the Run box, type outlook /safe and press Enter.

Steve Fan

HI
any solution for this case?
Thursday, October 4, 2018 6:04 AM
Hi IwinM,
>> yes , user used office application especially in words , it did happen
By this, do you mean the issue also affect Word? May I know if you have tested in other applications like Notepad and see if the problem can only be reproduced in non-Office programs?
Besides, to help narrow down if the issue is related to any software conflicts, please try to perform a clean boot in Windows, then have a try and see if issue persists.

Any updates, feel free to post back.

Hi IwinM,
I checked the release note of Version 1808, Build 10730.20102 but didn't see any documentation about this issue. I have also tried to revert my own Office 365 to the same build as yours but haven't seen the problem yet. Since you mentioned that this is a randomly occurred issue, I'll monitoring for some time period and let you know if I can reproduce the glitch.
As regards to your concern about the update, I noticed that a new update(Version 1809) has been released for monthly channel on September 27, it is recommended to checking for and installing the lasted update and see if there is any improvement.
Additionally, in case the issue still persists after upgrading, personally I'd like to suggest trying to revert to a previous build of Office to check the result:
How to revert to an earlier version of Office 2013 or Office 2016 Click-to-Run
Hope this can be helpful.

Hi Yuki ,
we cannot revert to previous version because old patch had outlook hang and system heywired which had logged to the MS office 365 team with tickets no: [Ticket #:11104454]
Regarding -
- * When notifications (for delivered or undelivered messages or read receipts) come in, MS Outlook will hang. At the same time, MS Word will go haywire as well.*
- * In MS Outlook, as you know, Sheila has many different folders to organise her emails. Opening any of these folders may take a long time or cause MS Outlook to hang, with the error message “MS Outlook (Not Responding)”. Moving items into any of these folders will also have the same effect.*
but MS team not able to solved by remote session .
After sometimes , we had figured out the root causes of issues of update patch and MS channel update .
anyway this is the history of the old patch ...
this is why we cannot roll back .
BACK to current issues , would like to know new update (version 1809) had any bugs OR glitches ?
coz we need to make sure before we update new patch .
thanks
lwin

Hi IwinM,
I checked the release notes for Version 1809 (Build 10827.20138) and the Fixes or workarounds for recent issues in Outlook for Windows, currently haven't found any documentation stating there is any known issue particularly in this build. But personally I would like to recommend tying to install the update on one test machine first and monitor for some time before pushing it to all users in your environment.

Hi Iwin,
Sorry for causing the misunderstanding. Actually I was trying to express that currently I haven't seen official documentation stating that there are known issues for Outlook for version of 1809 (build 10827.20138). I myself have also used this build of Office for several days and haven't encountered any issues so far. But in case there is any glitch which hasn't been reported or the new update cannot fix the issue in your original thread, personally I'd like to recommend testing on one machine in your environment to check the result and then decide whether or not to deploy to all users.

Yuki Sun

Hi IwinM,
Thanks for sharing the information above.
I checked the link you posted above and then gone through our previous discussion again. You mentioned that you have tried unchecking all add-ins in Outlook, but in order to further troubleshoot the problem, could you please also try the steps below and check the result?
1. Close all Office applications. Start Outlook in safe mode(Press Win+R, type "outlook /safe", press Win+R.), check if copy/paste in Outlook or between Outlook and Word can work properly.
2. If the issue persists when running Outlook in safe mode, please try running Word in safe mode(Press Win+R, type "winword /safe", press Enter.) and see the result.
Since the problem only affect the particular user and still persists after a Windows clean boot, it's likely that this may be caused by any add-ins based on my experience. Hopefully the above two steps can be helpful to eliminate the culprit add-in.

Yuki Sun

Hi IwinM,
Thanks for the update. Considering that the issue only occur to the particular user, please compare all the add-ins in both Word and Outlook on the problematic user's machine with those on a normal user's computer and check if there is any suspicious one which is only existent on the problematic machine. Try disabling the add-in and check the result.

Hi IwinM,
The link you shared is about Windows update, while I meant to install the update for Office 365 which is a totally different thing.

Hi IwinM,
Sorry but I am not sure about what you mean by this. Do you mean neither using the Copy/Paste button on the ribbon nor using the Ctrl+C/V shortcuts work properly?
Are you in safe mode? Have you tried disabling any add-ins?

Hi Iwin,
For click-to-run editions of Office, please refer to the steps below to check for update:
1. Open any Office app, such as Word, and create a new document.
2. Go to File > Account (or Office Account if you opened Outlook).
3. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.
Note: You may need to click Enable Updates first if you don't see the Update Now option right away.
Reference: Install Office updates
Besides, before checking for update, please try to perform an Online Repair of your Office applications and check if it remains.
