Calendar appointments not showing in to-do bar

Question

Anyone seen this before. Sometimes the to-do bar doesn't show appointments that are in the calendar. Tried a new profile, cleanviews and resetting navigation pane but that doesn't seem to help. OS is Windows 7 and Outlook 2013SP1

Anyone experienced similar issues?

Hi,

What's your detailed Outlook 2013 version number? Please click File > Account > About Outlook to collect the detailed version.

Generally, the Calendar section of the To-Do Bar will show appointments for up to 7 upcoming days (if space permits it) from the selected day onwards. Not sure about your not showing appointments, please go to Calendar, in View tab, in the Layout group, click To-Do bar, select Calendar. Compare the calendar items in Calendar Monthly view and To do bar, confirm which items are missing or hidden.

If possible, please take a screenshot when the issue is reproduced.

Regards,

Winnie Liang

Hi, Outlook version is 15.0.4893.1000 32 bit. It seems to be only recurring meetings that are showing in the to-do-bar.

It only seems to affect some not all users. Is there a setting that allows all appointments to show in the to-do-bar?

I have been having the same issue for about a month. I live by my calendar and rely on the sidebar to keep track of my day. When all of my appointments disappear, other than recurring meetings, it can create serious issues. I have Windows 8 and Outlook Professional Plus 2013. Outlook version is 15.0.4903.1000 32-bit. I have the same issue on my Windows 10 laptop running Outlook Professional Plus 2016, version 16.0.4498.1000 32-bit.

That's interesting. I assume new profile or logging onto a new machine gives you the same issue?

It doesn't matter which machine I'm on. I've signed out of my account and back in, with no change. Are you using Microsoft Exchange?

Yes using Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013. Interesting it seems to work with Office 2013 Standard but then doesn't work with Office Pro Plus.

Maybe an update or Microsoft patch breaks this. Can anyone from MS advise?

Same issue here.  My Outlook is the same version and we are also using Exchange 2013.  I have only one calendar so all entries should show on the To Do Bar.  I found that if I right-click on a calendar item and change the Show As, Accept it or Decline it, or forward it to another user it pops into my To Do bar along with the re-occurring appointments already there.  However, when I close and re-open Outlook these entries in the To Do bar are gone leaving only the re-occurring entries.  I have tried resettodobar and cleanviews.  I also set up a new Outlook profile with no luck.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

We found the problem.  I tried outlook /cleanviews, /resettodobar, /resetnavpane, new profile, safe mode, etc without success.  Then I read about a program called CalCheck that checks Outlook calendars for various issues.  I installed it and it found numerous issues in the over 20,000 calendar entries.  We saw an issue towards the bottom of the issue list that sparked a thought.  It was a recurring entry from 2013 that had been changed numerous times and was just changed the week before the trouble started.  When we canceled that one event, three cancellations for three different events were sent out indicating we might be on to something.  Sure enough, after we closed and re-opened Outlook the problem was fixed!

Thank you Maniac52, for the heads up about CalCheck. I had multiple errors show up and through trial and error removed several recurring items that had errors. The ones that did the trick were actually created in my work Google Drive calendar, which uses the same email account as Outlook. I don't use the Google calendar any more, but there were some old recurring items that were apparently be the culprit, because all is working correctly now. Thanks again!

Why do we see only 5 events per day in the todo (peek view) on the mail tab?
