SharePoint Server vs SharePoint Foundation

Hi,

A beginner's question: could somebody explain clearly the difference between SP Server and SP Foundation?

Hi,

The Major difference between the both of the SharePoint versions is SP Foundation is free and for SP Server you need to pay the license cost.

You won't find following features in Foundation edition.

Bussiness intelligence
Audience Targeting
Improved Governance
Secure Store Service
Web Analytics
Enterprise Wikis
Tag Clouds & Profiles

Hi,

the difference between SharePoint Server and the foundation Edition is that the Foundation is Free to download it without CALs. for SharePoint Server, you need to purchase the license in volume licensing with Standard CALs for Basic featrures and the Enterprise CALs for users or devices have Access to advanced Features like Access Services.
