Cannot detect printer when searching through TCP/IP Port on Windows 10. Can successfully ping printer IP and it shows in browser.

Question

Hi

I am trying to install a LAN connected printer (MP 161) with ipV4 address 192.168.001.264

I can ping this IP through CMD and can also see the web image monitor through the browser for the printer.

However, when I come to search for the printer through the add local printer wizard on Windows 10, it searches few minutes but never finds the printer.

I have disabled Windows Firewall and installed Firewall, but this has still not helped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Gurpreet

Well perhaps a typo on the IP ending in 264 as IP range \ octets end at 255.

As a work-around you could set the printer as new local port, TCP\IP port with the address of the printer and then driver that should work.

The discovery would depend on Windows and the printer provider so perhaps better to contact the printer provider regarding the auto discovery of the device.
