Active Directory Administrative Center not working properly

Question

Tuesday, March 12, 2019 1:09 PM

I have the following issue: when I double click for instance a user, normally the property-window opens and that's perfectly what I want. However recently (since this afternoon) when I double click a user, a blank window opens in the background and that's it.

I've had this issue before (a month ago). I found reinstalling my machine was the only thing that worked. But now the issue is back. I can't really reinstall my machine every month, that's just madness. Anyone aware of a solution for this issue?

After all this time found the solution.

Go to: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\IsolatedStorage
Delete the folder "StrongName.xxxxxxxx…" Do this for all users on the machine.

Hello BeccaIT,

I had this issue before in Windows Server 2016. I tried to updated and restart windows and it was fixed.

Try reinstalling it from "Manage optional features" in Settings

That failed but fixed my issue. I'm stumped.

Edit: it worked for the first user I tried to see the properties of. The second one failed again. :/

Hello,
Do we double click a user in Active Directory Users and Computers? If so, when I double click a user(called daisy1), I can see the blank page on the right hand as below, if the result I get is the same as yours?

When i want to see the Properties on one object, I need to right click this object and select the Properties.

Whether we can open a user Properties by right-clicking this user object and selecting the Properties?

Best Regards,
Daisy Zhou

I can't do it by right clicking

I just get a blank window that opens on the background, can't bring it to the foreground either.

Hi,
Do we use a Windows server or a Windows client? What is the machine version?
Do we use Remote Server Administrative Tool installed on client?

Windows Client (Win 10 1803)
RSATools are installed

Hi,
Do we install RSAT-Remote Access Management tools and manage one of our remote domain controller?

Then double-click the user on the domain controller, but a blank window opens in the background?

Correct!

Hi,
We can try the following two methods to troubleshoot:

  1. We can try to clean boot into this Windows 10 1803 and try to manage the remote domain controller.
How to perform clean boot we can refer to: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

  2. Re-install the operating system of this Windows 10, install all the Windows update and reconfigure remote Management in Server Manager according to Configure remote Management in Server Manager.

Tried both those options.

Re-installing worked, but after a couple of weeks, the problem reoccurred. (As per my initial post)
I'm wondering if there is a different solution, because reinstalling my machine every month, is just something that is highly impractical.

As of 7/1/2020, this still works. Thank you very much!
