Unable to access LaCie NAS over SMB since upgrading from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro

Question

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 11:12 PM

I am being asked to authenticate myself to SMB shares on my LaCie 2big NAS since upgrading to Win 10 Pro. I will click on a share, be prompted for a username and password, enter the credentials manually, with or without specifying the domain, domain as NetBIOS name or IP and I receive the following error:

"\2big\share is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource."

I am logged in with a local account that bears the same name and password as the one defined on the NAS for the SMB share.

Help.

Hi,

Similar issue  here, and solution seems that you need to update the firmware of your NAS.

Go to "Control Panel -> Programs"
Select "Turn Windows features on or off" (requires admin rights)
There you will find "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support". Enable it!

The issue is that your NAS doesn't support new version of SMB.

So you need to make windows support old version.

Hi,

I am using a NAS La Cie D2 Network v2 and had no difficulty to access and use it with Windows 7 and also Windows 10.

But when Windows 7 support end I have decided to migrate all home computer using Windosw 10. Most of PC had no issue but only one of them a NUC Intel had no access to the NAS.

After various test with other PC unit I have then discover the issue was only with any device Windows 10 Pro but OK with Familly edition !

Then I suspsect it was link to end of Residential Mode with 1803 update or also the use of Windows direct Login instead to local account but no effect.

In final and Thx to this topic I have then discover this NAS quite old doesn't support recent version SMB.

When I have enable "SMB 1.0/CFIS File Sharing Support" and restart the PC, I was finally able to remount the Drive from my NAS and make it visible and in access.

Jut currious to see Windows 7 Pro and Famiily do not have same SMB support default setting but end of the story.

So I can confirm this suggestion from Kate Li was more than welcome after 3 or 4 bad evening.

Thx a lot TechNet
