Question

Hi All,
We have Setup Windows Cluster 2012 Failover Cluster in Both Sites ( primary and DR) with the help of mentioned links.
http://www.thomasmaurer.ch/2012/07/hyper-v-replica-the-game-changer/
http://kristiannese.blogspot.in/2012/03/hyper-v-replica-by-example-part-one.html
Now, We want to cross-check Hyper-V Replica functionality but it is saying that Port 80 is not opened, Need Suggestion on same.
Windows Firewall inbound rules is already set as per above links.
Question: From where to where we need to open port 80 means which nodes/cluster/Hyper-V Broker ? As per mentioned cases.
Like,
Case 1. From Hyper-V broker of Primary Site to Hyper-V Broker of DR Site
Case 2: From Physical IP Address of Both Servers at Primary Site to Physical IP of Both Server at DR Site.
Case 3: From Cluster IP Address of Primary Site to Cluster IP of DR Site.
Case 4. From Physical IP Address of Primary Site to Hyper-v Replica Broker of DR Site.
Case 5. Port 80 need to open between Both End for Physical IP’s, Hyper-V Replica Broker and Cluster IP.
Kindly suggest on urgent basis.
Note: It is working fine in same IP Subnet, only change with different Subnet.
Thanks

Hi Maher,
Rule 1 and Rule 2 is already created means Broker to Broker Traffic is already Opened on Port 80, which is not helping us.
So, We opened port 80 from Physical IP address of Each Hyper-V Nodes which is part of Cluster to IP of Hyper-V Replica Broker at DR Site.
Now, it is working fine.
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried to disable the firewall on each Nodes ? it works without windows firewall?
Have you a Firewall between the two servers?
Best regards;

You have to open port 80 on every cluster node that is a part of the Hyper-V Replica Broker role, on both sides.
Are you using VPN between these sites? if so, make sure you can connect on port 80.
If this is over the internet, you should use SSL (443) instead so that the traffic is secured and encrypted.
Generally speaking: How you plan to solve this does not differ from normal network setup, where you have to NAT, open ports in your external firewall and so on.

Hi Maher and Kristian,
Firewall is disabled in all Servers, 2 Server in cluster with hyper-v Replica Broker at Primary Site and another 2 Server in cluster with Hyper-V Replica Broker at DR Site.
IP Subnet is different at both end and port 80 is blocked.
So, network Team is ready to open Port but they need IP Address details ...
We have tested Hyper-V Replica Functionality in Same IP Subnet, it is working fine. Only issue is coming when IP Subnet is different.
Please suggest from which IP to which IP , port 80 Need to be open in Mentioned scenerio.
Primary Site.
Host 1 IP address : 10.25.135.25
Host 2 IP address : 10.25.135.26
Cluster IP Address : 10.25.135.27
Hyper-V Replica Broker Role : 10.25.135.28
DR Site
Host 1 IP Address : 10.103.48.100
Host 2 IP Address : 10.103.48.101
Cluster IP address : 10.103.48.27
Hyper-V Replica Broker Role: 10.103.48.28
I hope , now you can help me.
Thanks

Hi,
In order to allow HyperV replica beteween geo Cluster, you have to allow traffic across the firewall. So, in this case, the replication afaik is managed by the HyperV Replica Broker. So, you have to allowa port 80 from HyperV replica broker in site 1 to hyper v broker in site 2 and port 80 from hyperV broker replica in site 2 to hyperV replica in site 1.
SO, let resume:
Rule1 : Brocker site 1 to broker site 2 > allow Port 80
Rule2: Broker site 2 to broker site 1> allow Port 80
In each site, you have to allow from to each broker replica.
Best regards.
