Try the following:
Right-click the Start button > Command Prompt (Admin)
Then, at the command prompt type the following ( you can copy and paste) and press "Enter":
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
Restart the computer.

Hi daledee,
First of all, please ensure the device manufacturer website has released the Windows 10 compatible drivers for your model device.
"Devise manager doesn't even show a CD drive"
Please check the following registry key for "UpperFilters" and " LowerFilters" then delet them.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Here is a link for reference:
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs (The manually steps should also be applied to the later version)

Download the latest drivers from Device Manufacturer's website, and install them.
Check the results after a reboot.
