Question
Wednesday, June 5, 2019 6:03 PM
I currently run Office 2013 under Windows 10. I plan to replace it with Office 2019 on the same computer.
Is there a way to migrate all my current settings in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2013 to Office 2019?
I want to retain the "look and feel" (e.g., icons and toolbars) that I set up over the years when I transition. Or as much of it as I can. Thanks.

Hi,
Generally, you can follow the article How do I upgrade Office? to do this. If your Office 2013 is volume licensed version based on MSI installation technology, You can install Office 2019 and Office 2013 on the same computer. Then, you can uninstall your Office 2013.
For Office icons, Office 2019 icons have a new look in version 1904 and later version. If you use Office 2019 version 1808, there is no difference in Office application icons between Office 2019 and Office 2013.
If you want to keep your old Office 2013 icons, you can go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office15 (64-bit version of Office) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office15 (32-bit version of Office), backup the following files:
ACCICONS.EXE
XLICONS.EXE
GRV_ICONS.EXE
OUTICON.EXE
PPTICON.EXE
PUBS.EXE
WORDICON.EXE
Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you can find Office App icons there. These icons are shortcuts of Office apps. Right-click them and select Properties, click Change icon. You can customize the icons for these Office apps. Browse and select these Office 2013 icon files you have backed up.
You can export your Office 2013 ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar customizations into a file that can be imported in Office 2019. For more steps, read Customize the ribbon in Office.
Hope the information was helpful. Anything unclear, feel free to post back to let us know.
Best Regards,
Herb
