Question

I have been attempting to use an FTP client in Windows 10 to make an FTP connection to a server, but have not managed to do so.
I get the error messages
"Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
"Could not connect to server" (FileZilla)
"Connection failed
"Connection timed out: connect. The connection attempt was rejected. The server may be down, or your network may not be properly configured." (Cyberduck)
Network Diagnostics could not identify the problem
I have made the connections many times, to manage a website, though possibly not from this Windows 10 computer.
I’ve taken the following actions
- contacted the webhost, who advised that the server and connection have no problems
- tested the connection with net2ftp.com
- contacted my broadband supplier, who advised that the FTP should function fine with the router
- checked the Cyberduck and FileZilla settings and procedures
- added FileZilla and Cyberduck to the exclusions in
- Windows Firewall
- Windows Defender
- Malwarebytes
I would be grateful for any suggestions about resolving this.

Have you tried disabling Windows Firewall as a test see if that helps?
Can see the FTP port from Windows 10?
Either port scan it with something like nmap or add the telnet client on Windows 10 and try to open a connection to port 21 being the for standard FTP, so does telnet <server ip> 21? (works is in not error connect with a blank screen or something)

Hi,
Is it available to ping Server on Windows 10?
Please try to disable Firewall and antivirus software.
Best regards,
Joy.
