Setting up for a remote desktop through 2 routers

Question

Hi,

I have trouble setting up remote desktop.

I have a router that is directly connected to the internet, and another router that is connected to the first one for additional wireless coverage. My computer is connected to the second router

I have successfully connected to remote desktop via local network but not remotely( I have set up the 3389 port forwarding to my local PC IP address). I have tried using the IP address from my router(the one searched off google) but it seems that the application could not detect the connection.

Is it something to do with gateways or something? Please advise thanks.

Have you tried as follow:

- Router 1 accept 3389

  • Router 1 forwards to Router 2
  • Router 2 forwards to your local IP

?

In order to access a computer remotely using a default RDP session, you only need to forward the 3389 port to your local IP address that you want to access and connect to your external IP address.

But if you have troubles using this method, then please put your IP configurations for both access points and the computer and also the part number for each router.
