Question

Monday, September 3, 2012 11:42 PM

Hello there i am having an issue when i try to run a task sequence from a pxe booted device.

If i look on the smsts.log on the affected client machine i get the following error

What i have done: distributed and verified that the following package (AKL0004 , boot image x64) is ok. Redistributed the other affected packages

Doubled checked that the boundary group to appended to a boundary which is pointing to the dp.

Just a little lost to what could be causing the issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mark

Have you removed the packageID from the screenshot? Or does the line "Failed to resolve PackageID=" really end at that point?
(It's better not to use screenshots for providing the contents of a logfile because a picture is not searchable)

Hi Torsten sorry about the screen shot and yes i have not removed or altered anything from the screen shot.

"Failed to resolve PackageID="  is legitimate

I tried creating a new boot image package, injecting the appropriate network driver though it still errors at the boot image process on the task sequence. (AKL00012)

Any ideas?

Try adding allow fallback source for content on boot image and applications/pacakges.

I had the same problem too yesterday. I tried first to check the status of the content was green on the distribution point, but the problem persisted. to solve I had to update a distribution point and then redistribute. just so the TS worked. it all happened without my having changed anything.

in my case it was the x64 boot image package.

does the pxe booted device have an IP that falls in your boundaries?

Can you please post a few more log lines that precede the ones that you have posted?

We experienced the same issue. Task Sequence was working then it stopped. We noticed the Network Access Account showed "not configured" in the accounts section. We cleared that and set it back and it said "Network Access Account" again. Restarted SMS Exec and it started working. Not sure if restarting SMS Exec or doing the NAA reset resolved it.

I had the exact same issue. Turned out the Subnet had been changed over to a new subnet which still needed to be added to the boundary group. Once it was added to the boundary group it performed flawlessly and I was able to re-image the PC. It's good to note that I was also unable to start the operating install from within windows also. Said the package was unavailable at which point I had removed it and re-distributed it prior to finding out about the boundary group. Hope that helps someone!

Check the following:

- Did you already define a Network Access Account (the account should have "Domain User" Membership!)?

  • Do you have the IP-Subnet of the Client in any way registred in a Boundary?
  • Is the Boundary / Boundary Group added under the Distribution Point Propoerties?
  • Is the content of the ContentID really distributed to the needed Distribution Point(s)? (Try to Update Distribution Point on the content!)

Always consult the Log fiile "smstslog.log" (usually located in X:\windows\temp when this error happens).

To get this Log file to your sccm-server do the following:

Be sure to have command promt support (F8).

- Press F8 while the error is shown

  • Map a Network-Share with net use (for example: net use M: \SCCMSERVER\SCCMPKG$)
    -
    cd X:\windows\temp
  • copy smstslog.log M:

Check the LogFile now located at your SCCM-Server. Use the LogFile Viewer "cmtrace.exe".

Cheers
Patrik

Here is a similar post. although with yours stating "Failed to resolve PackageID=(null)" could mean something else entirely.
