DNS Scavenging at forward lookup zone - Will it also deletes the associated pointer record?

Hi All,

Please clarify does DNS Scavenging enabled at forward lookup zone, when deleting the stale records, will it also deletes the associated pointer record of the host A record?

Note: Scavenging is not enabled in reverse lookup zones.

Hi,

Do you mean you didn’t click” Scavenge stale resource records”?

When the scavenging period begins, it will check every zone on the server with Aging/Scavenging configured. 

You must setup aging on each individual zone if you want that zone to be scavenged, included the reverse lookup zones.
