Question

Hi

I keep getting a message at the top of the web page 'Status: Checked in and viewable by authorized users.  ' with yellow background. Why is this ? I've checked all files in.

Thanks

If this is a publishing site, it means the page is not published yet (it may also need approval). So, try to run the approval workflow and approve it (if you have access) and the message will disappear (and the page will be visible by the public - or ALL those authorized, not just you and approvers).

Hi AK

Yes it is a publishing page and it has worked now.

I'm using my own page layouts, does this mean I need a publishing page ? Why do people use publigshig pages over normal pages ?

Thanks

Publishing pages have well defined layouts and more suitable for public facing sites, while other pages (web part pages and wikis) are more suitable for collaboration. You need a publishing page if you want to use a custom layout.

Click Publish (ribbon tab) and then Submit. You get a dialog to add comments and then fill a workflow (approval). If you are authorized to approve, you can do so, otherwise the task goes to approvers and once an approver OK's the page, it is visible by all and the message goes away.

Is there a way to publish all pages in one go?

I'm only using publishing pages as a workaround to get proper navigation on pages by default so they may be live immediately after creation.
