PXE Boot Missing MTFTP server IP address?

Question

Friday, January 16, 2015 1:16 PM

Hi,

I am trying to PXE boot a laptop and I am getting the error that PXE-E7B: Missing MTFTP server IP address? And it shows client IP as 0.0.0.0 Mask:0.0.0.0 DHCP IP 0.0.0.0. Any ideas what could be causing this? I can ping the server and its online and everything I look at seems fine. TIA

Hello,

Please make sure clients are able to get PXE response. In another word, you should either have IP helper or DHCP option 66 67 configured. Like suggested by Doug Segalowitz.

In addition, check if your PXE server is working properly. I have seen similar issue because PXE server is not working at all.

Seems as if the client is not able to get an IPaddress; that's a problem outside the scope of ConfigMgr though.

Ok, I am confused because if I boot it up to windows, I get an IP address and can get onto the internet.

is pxe not starting at all?

it appears your DHCP settings or IP helpers are not setup correctly for pxe
