Onedrive keeps asking for credentials.

Question

Hey everyone,

I've been having issues with Onedrive for one of my customers.
Whenever he tries to access or save a document via Office 2016, it asks for a login and password.
The next steps we have tried to solve this issue:

- Remove all Office credentials in Credentials Manager (no Onedrive credentials were present)

  • Removed the folder in %appdata%\local\microsoft\onedrive.
  • Removed the onedrive link to the O365 account and re-added the link.

The onedrive software is not present on the device.
I've read on a internet forum that it is possible that you need to enter your credentials every time if you connect via Outlook or Word etc... . Please tell me that this is not true..

Hi,

In order to help you better, would you like to tell me you are using OneDrive or OneDrive For Business?

According to your description, I suggest that you repair Office 2016 by the following steps:

  1. Right click Windows logo and select Apps and Features.
  2. In the Apps& features area, find Office 2016 and click on it.
  3. Click Modify.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair.

If the issue still persist, you can try to update Office 2016 to the latest version. Please open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

The onedrive software is not present on the device. Does it mean that you want to get OneDrive?

If you remove OneDrive from File Explorer, you can read the link below to add it again:

Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

If you uninstall OneDrive, you can re-install it from Microsoft Store.

Hope these are helpful.
