How do I hide/restrict access to 1 tab on my Sharepoint?

Question

We have a team Sharepoint with eight tabs.

My boss would like to restrict access to 1 tab, leaving the other 7 visible to non-team members (who have been granted site access).

How do I do this?

Heather

Hi Heather,

If you need restrict site access then, navigate particular site and then "site action"-->"site permissions"-->click "stop inherit permissions" then remove non-team members,it's will automatically hide the particular site link(tab).

What tabs are you referring to exactly?  Are they tabs within the global navigation?  You can implement something called Audience Targeting. If you set a specific permissions group for the 1 tab you would like to restrict access it will make it so only that permissions group can see it.

If this is being done on the navigation there should be a setting when you add a link that says Audience Targeting. Just type the name of the permission group you wish to allow access.

If you are restricting a specific webpart the audience targeting is under the advanced option when you edit that webpart.
