Hi,
I customised the Table of Contents of a Word document. I changed the alignments of the headings, etc. Now I want the setting of the Table of Contents to be reset to the default Word 2013 style. So how does one do that? I have tried to 'reset to the default style set' in the 'Design' tab. Nothing works.
I have found a similar explanation, but it refers to Office 2007, not 2014:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/training/table-of-contents-ii-customize-your-toc-RZ010263209.aspx?section=7
So how can I 'start over' with the TOC and reset to the default style?

Assuming you haven't made the changed TOC Styles the default, you can use the Organizer to copy those Styles back into the document from the Normal template. See, for example:

Did you update the TOC after updating the Styles?

I discovered an easier way to solve this problem. Good to know for people with the same problem who will eventually read this:
1. Under the Home tab, go to Styles and click the little arrow on the lower right.
2. Click the Manage Styles button on the lower left (third from left).
3. In the Manage Styles box, click on the Import/Export button on the lower left.
4. In the Organizer box, click on the Styles tab.
5. You now will see a list on the left hand side. Search for TOC1, TOC2 and TOC3. Select them all.
6. Now click on the Delete button in the centre of the Organizer box.
7. A pop-up will appear. Click Yes to all.
8. When done, click Close on the lower right.
9. Now go the References tab and click the Table of Contents button on the left.
10. Click on Remove Table of Contents on the bottom.
11. Go to References again and click the Table of Contents button. You’ll now see the default TOC styles. Insert the TOC of your choosing. Done!

Thank you. But no luck on the TOC. It still stays the same. Also, I can't see the specific name of the TOC in the styles list. So I don't know what to copy. Is the document style not saved in a particular folder? AppData?
Very frustrating. The only solution seems to be to copy and paste the whole thing in another document.

Aha, that is what I forgot to do. Thank you very much! It works great. Still think there should be an easier way to do like in Word 2007... But thanks again!
