Question

After resetting my computer, I have been left with the following error pop-up every time the computer boots:
"Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you log off. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
DETAIL - The system cannot find the path specified."
I have tried various fixes on the internet but have yet to remedy this error. Any suggestions appreciated. thanks.

Hi,
Before we start solving this issue, I’d like to confirm some questions with you.
1. what’s your Specific environment?
2. Have you actually verified that the domain.com\administrator account set up with the roaming profile?
If so, is that location accessible from the server you installed - and does it actually contain the valid profile?
3. Do you have fast logon optimization enabled on this server?
4. Do you have some group policy? Sometimes the group policy would give the roaming profile with wrong direction.
In addition, you may check these similar threads as reference:

This is a stand alone computer not connected to any server. It is running Windows 10 Pro and is fully updated.

Hi ,
I am sorry for replying so late!
1. Have you verified that IP is configured correctly and that the NSLOOKUP resolves the correct server on the correct address?
2. Rename the local profile folder to a slightly different name. Don't create a new one.
Show hidden files/folders and rename the 'default user' folder. If there is a TEMP folder also rename this.
Don't delete anything until you are sure you have backups of the users data.
3. Try to make the account from scratch.

This is a stand alone computer. It is not part of any domain. It does not have a server. There is only one user -part of the administrators. Additionally, I am unable to change the type of user account from roaming to local.. (It keeps reverting back to roaming). I don't even know why I have a roaming profile. Something must have changed when the computer was reset.
Most posts on the internet involving this error relate to users as being part of a domain. This is not my situation. Is the solution to recreate my profile and If I recreate my user profile, will I lose all of my settings requiring countless hours to regain? Or is there another fix for this error? Thanks in advance

UPDATE
After the May updates, I no longer have the above error at startup. It has been replaced with a shutdown error 1504
"Windows cannot update your roaming profile completely. Check previous events for more details. "
I have looked around trying to find the answer. The only one was a registry edit (which did not apply) to me as the entry already existed.
Any ideas?
