Remove the PeopleExperienceHost service

Question

Monday, May 6, 2019 7:30 AM

Hi all,

Windows 10 1803.

There is a new icon on the taskbar at the right side, which starts the People application.

We want to remove this application and deactivate its service, the PeopleExperienceHost service, as the application crashes frequently.

Also we want to be sure that the next update/upgrade does not re-activates/re-installs this feature.

Steps done:

1. A quick search on the Internet came back with pretty tricky solutions.

2. The setting "turn off Show people" is available, even in GPO. Not clear if it deactivates the service as well

3. This feature seems to designed for the home users. Is it integrated with Outloook? How could be used effectively in an enterprise environment where users are typically not have Contacts in the Windows 10 contact list - but rather in Outlook.

How can I do this from command line?

(This should be a solution ready for automation, so PowerShell, cmd, GPO...)

Thanks in Advance,

Gabor
