Keep getting this warning on Windows 2008R2 DHCP servers and getting alerts in SCOM too. "This computer has at least one dynamically assigned IPv6 address. For reliable DHCPv6 server operation, you should use only static IPv6 addresses." We are not using IPV6 in our environment. Internet Protocal Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) is unchecked on the NIC too. Anyone know how to get rid of this annoying warninig ? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Based on my knowledge, you can configure the static IPv6 address as you said.
And, we do recommend to use static IP configurations for such servers as Domain controller, DHCP Server, DNS Server.
Hope this helps.

Hi KungfuPanda2,
The event indicates that you did not assign a static IPv6 address for your DHCPv6 server.
Event ID 10020 — DHCPv6 Server Service
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc726951(v=ws.10).aspx
If you do not use DHCPv6 in your network, we can choose safely ignore this event. Or, we may have to configure Static IPv6 IP address for this server.
In addition, we do not recommend to disable IPv6.
Why you should leave IPv6 alone

Hi Jeremy, thanks for repsonding. Our DHCP servers work as domain controller too. We are not using IPv6/DHCPv6. We want to stop this alert happening and are considering to configure a static IPv6 IP on the DHCP server /Domain controller ? Do you see any risk of doing that? Can I use the IPv6 IP by converting its existing IPv4 IP to IPv6 IP?
