Question
Sunday, January 3, 2016 1:09 AM
When I double click my excel file, excel 2016 opens but my file does not load. I ran office 365 repair and the symptoms remained the same. What do I do now? This has happened twice on a file that I have been using for a year or so and that I use most every day. My only recourse at this point is to go back to my last saved working file and start over, losing 3-days work each time. Please tell me how to fix this. I really need access to my file. Thank you, Clyde

Hi,
According to your description, this might a known issue of Excel. Please try to do the following method to fix the issue:
1.Try uncheck the Ignore Other Applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211494/en-gb
2.Choose Run and enter Excel.exe /regserver
This will cause Excel to start up, re-register all of its registry keys, then quit. Now, try opening your Excel files.
3.Click on the Start Button, in the run box type "regedit" (without the quotes) and then click the command. This will open the Registry Editor. Go to the registry key listed below.
Key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.12\shell\Open\command
Highlight the key, select the value (Default), select "Edit/Modify" from the pull-down menu and then enter the value below:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 16\Root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE" "%1"
Note: Your original Key maybe something like the value listed below:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 16\Root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE" /dde
Simply remove the /dde and replace with "%1". This Key is for a computer that has Microsoft Office 2016 installed.
