Using log4Net does not create log file after publish

Question

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 7:52 PM

Hi,

I have just started using log4 net with my Windows .net application and VS 2005
It seems to work fine in development and the log file gets created in the Debug folder.

But when I publish the application and run the setup.exe, or the application manifest,
no log gets created.

Thanks for your help.

Rosa.

I figured it out myself.  I did not have a path for the file Value in my .Config.  Once I gave the filepath, it started putting out the log when I run my application from the publish folder.

Thanks.

Rosa.

Risa,

This is not a deployment problem. There is something wrong with your configuration of log4net, or you're logging at one level but the level is set to another one (like you're using log.info and you have the logging level set to debug) or something like that. We are using ClickOnce to deploy our application, and are using log4net successfully.

You can post your question to the log4net list server after you subscribe. You'll have a better chance of getting an answer there, rather than in this forum about setup & deployment.

Here is the website for log4net:

http://logging.apache.org/log4net/index.html

Here is info on signing up for their list server, after which you can send an e-mail to the list and get help:

http://logging.apache.org/log4net/mail-lists.html

Good luck!
