How to create Disk size more than 2TB in Windows 2012

Hello Experts,

For my office i am already build a new file server with windows 2012 server, i assigned 2TB of disk size to one volume called Home1 (D:) but according to new requirement i have to increase the drive size from 2TB to 3TB but windows is not allowing to perform this task, but i see the unused 1TB near to it. I don't know how to expand the Disk size to 3TB

Hello

disk 1 use mbr not gpt.
backup D volume to another disk and delete volume "D" and also delete unused 1TB and right click on disk 1 and convert to gpt disk, and create 3 TB volume.

Hi

 I think your disc type is mbr and it is limiting up to 2 TB,you need to convert type to gpt.

As you said this is file server,you could backup it before doing this convert proccess.And i recommend you create a new disc and add this to gpt type,then copy the folders to this new gpt disc.

As mentioned above, MBR disks only support up to 2TB partition size, so if you have a disk which is MBR formatted and larger than 2TB, you could only use 2TB disk size among it, but the rest of it could not be used.so converting MBR to GPR is considerable necessary to make full use of the disk space.by the way, you can choice AOMEI Partition Assistant to covert MBR to GPR or GPR to MBR .
