Microsoft 365 E3 license. Upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise, how?

Question

Wednesday, April 18, 2018 6:22 AM

Hello.

So I am the administrator of a small lab domain.
I have a Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 license connected to a user in my domain and I would like to upgrade this users computer from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise using the E3 license (Since Windows 10 Enterprise is supposed to be a part of this license).

I have been on the phone with Microsoft and gotten no help what so ever.

It seems like you can use System Center to do this, but this isn't an option.
Also Autopilot apparently works, but how? I can't get it to work.
I don't want to reinstall the computer, just upgrade it.

Does anyone on here have a solution to my problem?

Thank you

Microsoft 365 contains office 365 and the document is right, you have to reboot your machine to get the changes applied.

From the document, you have to meet the requirement:

 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-10-enterprise-subscription-activation

Windows 10 (Pro or Enterprise) version 1703 or later installed and activated on the devices to be upgraded.

Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) available for identity management.

Devices must be Azure AD-joined or Active Directory joined with Azure AD Connect. Workgroup-joined devices are not supported.

As I know O365 E3 is not relevant with any Windows 10 OS... Those are separate license.

You have to Contact your Microsoft support partner whom you purchased license from to resolve this.

Please login your VLSC portal to get your Win 10 License if you have purchased,

Hello Udara

It's not an Office 365 E3 license, it's a Microsoft 365 E3. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/product-licensing/microsoft-365-enterprise.aspx

Part of this license is Windows 10 Enterprise E3 which claims )https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-10-enterprise-e3-overview) "After one of your users enters the Azure AD credentials associated with a Windows 10 Enterprise E3 license, the operating system turns from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise and all the appropriate Windows 10 Enterprise features are unlocked".

This doesn't happen.

I've spoken to Microsoft (many many different departments of Microsoft) and they just keep connecting me to a different departments, until I'm eventually disconnected.

Hello Vivian, what would happen when a Microsoft 365 subscription is not renewed? Would Windows 10 Enterprise roll back to Pro by itself or any manual intervention is needed to be compliant? Thanks!
